Top management together with the local team and external speakers presented the Group’s objectives in the Russian market. Pioneer Investment Management LLC is now actively managing in Russia assets of three locally registered funds (AuM – approximately €15 million as of end of 31/01/ 2008) with further plans to be announced later in the year. By 2010 Pioneer Investments aims to enter top five asset management firms in Russia. Dario Frigerio, Chief Executive Officer, Pioneer Investments explained the strategic rationale and importance of the Group's commitment to Russia both in the banking and asset management business. Elena Loginova, CEO, Pioneer Investment Management LLC, discussed the value of membership of the UniCredit Group and how the Bank is one of the main platforms for distribution growth as well as the importance of opportunities in the retail and institutional segments. In a series of short presentations and subsequent panel discussion, the issue of decoupling from the US market was debated. Robert Wescott, the former Economic Advisor to President Bill Clinton, shared his opinion on the current conditions of the US economy, its impact on the world economy as well as the different consequences of the potential outcomes of the US Presidential Elections. Another special guest, Oleg Vyugin, one of the most respected macroeconomists in Russia, discussed the state of the Russian economy, current tendencies, and its dependence upon the processes in the global markets.
